3 days in Singapore with kids

This three-day plan is built for children who enjoy exploring but still need lunch, changing time and a predictable finish. Each day has three main stops rather than a succession of queues. The first follows Marina Bay, the second mixes outdoor play with a booked museum session, and the third stays on Sentosa. Rearrange the order around opening days: the two children’s gardens do not share the same weekly calendar. Toddlers may need a shorter version; teenagers should swap the age-limited children’s attractions for interests of their own.

3 daysFamilies with children aged 3–12Balanced paceMid-range with two larger attraction purchases
Day 1

Cloud Forest, water play and Marina Bay

Keep the day in Bay South Garden and its nearby waterfront. Have lunch after the conservatory, carry a change of clothes and follow the signed walking diversion toward the barrage.

About 3 km walking within the gardens and to Marina Barrage; allow extra for current construction diversions
Open day route
Morning09:30

Cloud Forest, Gardens by the Bay

18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018953

Make the cooled conservatory the day’s main paid attraction and take the elevated route at a pace that suits everyone. Check the current themed experience before booking if loud effects or unfamiliar creatures might overwhelm a child. A second conservatory is an optional substitution, not an obligation added to this morning.

Time
2 hr
Cost
Paid conservatory ticket; compare current non-resident packages
Hours
09:00–21:00, last admission 20:00; monthly maintenance closures apply. Visitor information

Worth knowing: Build in the walk from the MRT and a toilet stop before entry. The listed attraction time starts at the conservatory, not at your hotel.

Midday13:00

Far East Organization Children’s Garden

18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018953; entrance near Sun Pavilion

Give the children time to choose between dry play and water features rather than rushing through for a photograph. Adults enter with a child aged 12 or below. If closed, use a shorter outdoor-garden walk and bring the rest break forward instead of promising another water playground.

Time
1 hr 30 min including changing
Cost
Free for eligible children and accompanying adults
Hours
Usually Thursday–Sunday and public holidays 09:00–19:00; school-holiday exceptions, last entry 18:00. Visitor information

From the previous stop: Lunch first, then allow 15–20 minutes via the signed Sun Pavilion entrance

Worth knowing: The waterfront entrance closed in March 2026; use the entrance near Sun Pavilion. Bring swimwear, a towel and dry clothes.

Afternoon15:15

Marina Barrage Green Roof

8 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018951

End with the broad city view and space to sit, not a requirement to buy another ticket or wait for a nighttime show. The barrage is also working water infrastructure, so stay in public areas. An early return to the hotel is a sensible finish if the heat has caught up with everyone.

Time
45 min–1 hr
Cost
Free outdoor visit
Hours
Outdoor access is subject to site and event notices; visit in daylight and suitable weather. Visitor information

From the previous stop: Allow 20–30 minutes on foot using current construction signs

Worth knowing: The roof is exposed. Leave during lightning or severe weather; do not assume the indoor gallery has the same access hours as the outdoor site.

Day 2

Garden play and Singapore stories

Start at the northern end of the Botanic Gardens, walk south for orchids, then eat lunch and make one city transfer for a booked children’s-museum visit.

Around 2–3 km garden walking, then a 25–50 minute road transfer allowance to Coleman Street
Open first stop
Morning08:30

Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden

1H Cluny Road, Singapore 259604

Start with hands-on outdoor exploration before the warmer part of the day. Let children choose a few features and repeat something they enjoy rather than treating the whole garden as a checklist. This is a supervised family space: adult admission is tied to accompanying children, not a general shortcut through the Botanic Gardens.

Time
1 hr 30 min
Cost
Free admission under the garden’s family-entry rules
Hours
08:00–19:00; closed Mondays except designated public holidays; last admission 18:30. Visitor information

Worth knowing: Use the northern entrance rather than the main Tanglin Gate. Keep snacks for designated areas and read the current age and entry guidance.

Midday11:00

National Orchid Garden

Singapore Botanic Gardens, 1 Cluny Road, Singapore 259569; approach via Tyersall Entrance

Turn the visit into a short search for different colors and shapes instead of a plant-identification lesson. A focused hour gives adults a botanical highlight without using up the energy needed for the afternoon. Exit for lunch promptly; the next museum visit has a fixed start and is not a drop-in session.

Time
1 hr
Cost
Separate garden admission; check age and resident categories
Hours
08:30–19:00 daily; last ticket sales and admission 18:00. Visitor information

From the previous stop: Allow 30–40 minutes walking south through the Botanic Gardens, with rest stops

Worth knowing: If the walk from Jacob Ballas is already enough, shorten this stop. Do not mistake the free Botanic Gardens grounds for free entry to every garden inside.

Afternoon14:00, by reservation

Children’s Museum Singapore

23-B Coleman Street, Singapore 179807

The child-sized displays offer a different way to explore Singapore after the morning outdoors. Reserve for the whole family. From 29 September–12 November 2026 only Level 1 is open; plan a shorter visit during that period rather than expecting the full experience.

Time
1 hr 45 min
Cost
Tourist admission normally paid; temporary free-entry periods do not remove booking requirements
Hours
Book the 14:00 session if available. Full closures: 5–7 October and 13 November 2026. Visitor information

From the previous stop: After lunch, allow 25–50 minutes by taxi from the garden exit, plus early arrival

Worth knowing: Tickets can become invalid more than ten minutes after the session starts. If unavailable, stay longer in the Botanic Gardens; do not rely on walk-in admission.

Day 3

Sentosa’s ocean life and a gentle beach finish

Spend the morning indoors, take lunch in the resort area and finish with two flexible outdoor stops. This day avoids a theme-park ticket and a late-night show.

MRT to HarbourFront and Sentosa access transport; local island transit plus around 2 km walking
Open first stop
Morning10:00, subject to ticket calendar

Singapore Oceanarium

24 Sentosa Gateway, Sentosa Island, Singapore 098137

Choose this as the day’s main attraction and pause at the habitats that hold the children’s attention. The official site lists the marine-mammal viewing panel as temporarily closed, so do not make that the promised highlight. Use the current Oceanarium name and entrance rather than an old aquarium listing.

Time
2 hr 30 min
Cost
Paid admission; select current date and age category
Hours
Date-specific opening hours and early closures; timed entry applies in peak periods. Visitor information

Worth knowing: Check the operating calendar before fixing your morning. Some autumn dates close early, and the official address is 24 Sentosa Gateway rather than older resort-wide addresses.

Afternoon14:00

Sentosa Sensoryscape

3 Siloso Road, Sentosa, Singapore 098977; visitor-services anchor

Use the landscaped route as a gradual transition toward the beach. Look at textures, planting and the different garden spaces; daytime is not the same experience as the illuminated evening program. Keep the walk short enough that it remains enjoyable after the Oceanarium rather than turning it into another major activity.

Time
45 min
Cost
Free walkway
Hours
Walkway open daily; nighttime projections run separately and are not part of this afternoon visit. Visitor information

From the previous stop: Lunch first, then allow 20–30 minutes walking from the resort area or using local transport

Worth knowing: The address anchors visitor services along the route. Follow signs toward Beach Station and use lifts or ramps where available if travelling with a stroller.

Afternoon15:15

Palawan Beach

Palawan Beach Walk, Sentosa, Singapore 098498

Finish with sand play and a drink in the shade. Swimming is optional, and shallow-looking water is not a substitute for supervision or the beach’s current instructions. Keep paid beach clubs, water playgrounds and other activities separate from this simple public-beach stop so the afternoon can end whenever the family is ready.

Time
1 hr 30 min
Cost
Beach access free; island entry and paid activities separate
Hours
Outdoor beach visit; follow current access notices, weather warnings and swimming flags. Visitor information

From the previous stop: Allow 15–25 minutes via Beach Station, walking or using the beach shuttle

Worth knowing: Check the last comfortable journey back to the hotel rather than the island’s latest show. Dry clothes make the air-conditioned trip home much easier.

Questions about this trip

Can we follow this Singapore itinerary on any three consecutive days?

Not in the same order. Jacob Ballas normally closes Mondays. Far East Organization Children’s Garden usually opens Thursday–Sunday and public holidays, with a different school-holiday calendar. Check those two visitor pages and the museum’s booking availability, then assign the days before paying for tickets.

Does this itinerary suit teenagers?

The Oceanarium and waterfront can, but several play spaces are specifically for younger children. This sample is aimed at ages 3–12. For a teen trip, replace the children’s garden and museum with a chosen museum, shopping area or activity instead of assuming adults and older children can enter every play attraction.

Should we add the zoo or Universal Studios?

Treat either as a replacement day, not a fourth stop. Travelling to Mandai or spending hours in a theme park changes the pace and budget substantially. Ask which experience matters most to the children, then remove the least interesting day from this plan.
