A longer Tokyo stay allows distinct districts and two nearby-city excursions without changing hotels. The added days include Shinjuku, Kiyosumi, Yanaka, western Tokyo, Kamakura and Yokohama. Keep the two rail excursions separate, check museum closure days first and preserve a quiet evening after each return.

Meiji Jingu to Shibuya at an easy pace

Start in the shrine forest, leave room for lunch around Harajuku, then move from park paths into busy Shibuya. Shopping time is flexible rather than another required ticketed stop.

Questions about this trip

Are Kamakura and Yokohama one excursion?

No. Each has three substantial stops and its own return to Tokyo. Combining both would remove the unhurried museum and garden time this version is designed to provide.

Is a nationwide rail pass required?

No. Compare the actual local and regional journeys with current ticket products. This route does not assume a nationwide pass will save money or cover every operator.

Does the western day require Ghibli Museum tickets?

No. It uses the Edo-Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum, Inokashira Park and Kichijoji. A Ghibli booking would be a separate substitution with its own advance-sale rules.
