Day 1

The civic center, a café and the docks

Start with the buildings around Plaza de Mayo, move west for a substantial café break, then walk back toward the docks. The small amount of backtracking serves a real purpose: fitting a historic interior and a different waterfront landscape into the same day without another museum ticket.

Walk to the distinctive pedestrian bridge and explore a manageable stretch of the dock edges. The open waterfront feels different from Avenida de Mayo's enclosed streets, and the route works as a conversation-and-photography afternoon. You do not need to continue all the way to the ecological reserve to make the stop worthwhile. Decide where to turn back while energy is still good.

Recoleta, from stonework to paintings

Keep this day in Recoleta, with lunch between the cemetery and the museum. The sculpture stop is close enough to remain optional if an exhibition captures your attention. Start later if you need a slower morning, but check the cemetery's closing time.
