Monastiraki market neighborhood

Use the square as an orientation point, then explore the surrounding shopping lanes and stop for lunch. This is a working commercial area with tourist retail mixed in, not a single admission attraction. Compare goods before buying and give the group a clear meeting point if different shops pull people in different directions.

Benaki Museum of Greek Culture

Shift from ancient archaeology to the longer story of Greek culture. Choose a manageable selection of decorative arts, dress and later historical material rather than repeating the morning's pace in every room. This is the Koumbari building: the Benaki organization has other venues, and tickets or exhibitions at those addresses are not interchangeable.
